Donna Preis and George Siede co-founded the commercial photo studio, Siede Preis Photography, in Chicago in 1982. Over the course of 17 years they worked with clients on an expansive list of projects encompassing "everything but food and fashion."
In 1998 they transitioned into selling stock photography through their newly formed company called Cowgirl Stock Photography. The company eventually partnered with Photodisc to release photographs as digital images on CD and Siede Preis Photography later signed with Getty Images as sole distributer of their digital stock collection.
